Social Commitment

The Operative Laparoscopic surgery camp was organised to celebrate the silver jubilee year of Laparoscopic surgery in India. The camp was organised in the dense forest area of Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra State at Lok Biradari Project, Hemalkasa about 350 km from Nagpur on 14th & 15th March 2015. It was organised by Immediate Past President Dr. Dilip Gode in association with Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed University) Nagpur. 37 personnel including residents, nurses & Para Medical Staff along with 20 Faculty members from department of Anaesthesia, department of surgery, Dr. Palanivelu Founder the President of AMASI, Dr. Dilip Gode, IPP & Vice Chancellor of DMIMS, Dr. Parthasarthy from GEM Hospital, Coimbatore, Dr. Sameer Rege from KEM Hospital, Mumbai, Dr. Mrs. Surinder Gode and Dr. Tatawar, Dr. Ghate, Dr. Choudhary from IMA Chandrapur (Members of AMASI) participated in the camp.

3 Laparoscopic theatres were setup. The Laparoscopic equipment was provided by Karl Storz, Stryker & Surgdent. The coutrey machine provided by Shalya & Eclipse, the other consumable like mesh, suture material, harmonic were provided by Johnson & Johnson. In all 40 patients were operated in one & half day comprising of repair of inguinal hernia [TEP & TAPP] (30), Lap chole, Lap appendicectomy, Lap Hystrectomies etc.

This camp in true sense provided the benefit of hi-tech surgery to the down trodden section of the society. All the patients who were operated were tribal residing in near by areas.

Padmashri Dr. Prakash Amte, internationally known person in the field of social work & who runs this project was very happy that AMASI was also involved in such activities. He expressed & requested Dr. Palanivelu & Dr. Dilip Gode to take up this activity every year so that large number of patients could be benefited. Dr Palanivelu thanked Dr Prakash Amte for giving the opportunity to work in the project.
